The book of rules

Editorial standards

A journal that diagnoses a country should be able to diagnose its own mistakes.

Sourcing

We prefer primary documents: basin plans, CSIRO papers, court decisions, agency guidance, Landcare field notes. Where we summarise, we say so. We do not invent quotations. We do not hide uncertainty behind a tidy adjective.

Corrections

If a fact is wrong, we correct it in the piece and note the change when the error was material. Write to support@worldwidebacklinks.com or use the contact form with “Correction” in the subject.

Conflicts

Writers declare paid work, grants, landholdings and family interests that a fair reader would want to know. Editors can kill a piece that cannot stand beside that declaration.

Sponsored and guest work

Paid essays and promotional links are labelled. Outbound commercial links carry rel="sponsored". See the guest guidelines. Staff essays are not for sale.

AI and process

Tools may be used to check structure, not to invent Australian facts. A human editor is responsible for every published sentence. If a tool cannot name the creek, it does not get the last word on the creek.

Independence

Doctor Earth is editorially independent of governments, parties and product brands. We may write critically about all of them. Related: about, privacy and the article archive.
